MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick Review

Oh Yes…

The day has come, I have FINALLY got my hands on MAC's Velvet Teddy? Why has it taken so long? The Kylie Jenner phase of course. This product has been sold out for months both on every MAC counter and online but yesterday on a quick Saturday afternoon walk around York, she became mine.

Although there has been many dupes for this product, I hadn't bought a MAC product in quite a while and just after pay day, decided it was time for a treat.

Dupes for this product include -

- MUA 'Fawn Fancy'
- Rimmel Long Lasting Finish 'Kate X 03'
- Revlon 'Mauve it Over'
-Wet n Wild 'Bare it all'
- Natural Collection 'Biscuit'

Velvet Teddy is the regular 3g size of standard MAC lip sticks with the usual heavenly scent of vanilla. The image used for the website is very actuate and true to colour.

The consistency of this shade is amazingly moisturising considering it is a matte texture. My previous purchases of matte shades have been disappointing, totally drying out my lips. But this lip colour has completely changed my views. It kept creamy and soft throughout the evening, with no colour loss (even while eating a juicy ice lolly!) The kiss test proved it transferred, ever so slightly might I add.  The taste needs no expression, the vanilla scent is satisfying and not too over powering.

I originally went to purchase this product 6 months ago, but due to the popularity and lack of stock, the MUA suggested I try 'Kinda Sexy', a more orange toned nude to suit my lighter skin tone. I would say she was correct, however, having tried Velvet Teddy I can honestly say this has fallen into my favourite lipstick category and knocked Kinda Sexy out of the park. This is a slightly darker shade and I would bet hard cash this would suit every skin tone. The colour is just beautiful.

These images were taken in natural lighting. I will say however with this shade, I feel it does (obviously) change colour slightly in different lighting situations so it is definitely worth you visiting a counter and trying the product on you LIPS. I have ummed and arrgh'd over this shade for months due to swatching it on my hand and wondering if it was too dark for my comfort zone. WRONG. It completely changed once I got this on my lips. Love, love love.

Here is a photograph of the shade in synthetic lighting. In my opinion, it altered to a more brown tone in the synthetic compared to the more pink/nude in the natural lighting. Both equally as stunning.

Natural light arm swatch - one layer was all that was needed for this thick creamy layer of bliss.

SO what are you waiting for? Pop down to your local MAC counter and check this one out! :)
